Crafting a Lightsaber Empty
PostSubject: Crafting a Lightsaber   Crafting a Lightsaber Icon_minitimeFri Jul 10, 2009 1:58 am

In the begginning, since all members, unless given special permission start out as their faction's first rank, it's only expected that they don't start out with Lightsabers. For the first 10 posts the player makes, he or she will not wield a Lightsaber. After 10 posts players who are Jedi or force-sensitive may make a thread, which will lead them on their journey to crafting, and personalizing their own Lightsaber. This proccess will be different for each faction.

Things Required:
Hilt- Lightsaber hilts were the basic, all-encompassing part of a lightsaber. A combination handgrip, blade emitter, activator switch and power source, it held within the inner workings of the weapon that allowed it to produce its distinctive energy-based blade.
Types:
Electrum- A lightsaber with a hilt forged from gold-like electrum was often called an "electrum lightsaber." The electrum finish gave the lightsaber a majestic, regal appearance.
Curved- A standard design, curved hilts allowed more precise movements as well as reasonable flexibility in lightsaber combat. The curved hilt also provided a challenge when defending against it, because the wielder would strike a slightly different angle than with a normal hilt. It was also more complex and gave the maker a bigger challenge in aligning its crystals.
Shoto Hilt- The hilt design used for the shorter Lightsabers. An example of a Shoto Hilt would be Yoda's small green lightsaber's. This is normally used for those of a smaller stature, or for those who'd like less damage, but, increased speed, and flexibility in their techniques.
Emmitter Matrix- The emitter matrix was a crucial component of the lightsaber. A saber's blade was emitted out the handle through the emitter matrix which kept a tight magnetic grip on the beam and allowed it to reliably extend to a predetermined length.
Focusing Lens- The focusing lens was a key component in the construction of a lightsaber hilt. These lenses further regulated the beam of a lightsaber, allowing the blade it produced to terminate at a given point. Different types of lenses yielded different properties in the lightsabers that they were built into; in addition, like most other parts of these weapons, they required skilled craftsbeings to produce though often they were available commercially or even salvageable.
Types:
Vibration Lens- The vibration lens was a type of focusing lens used in the construction or upgrading of lightsabers. As its name suggested, the lens vibrated at a high rate of speed. This enabled the weapon to produce a more deadly, if less stable, beam.
Adegan Lens- An Adegan lens was a type of lightsaber focusing lens that used Adegan crystals as the lens medium, although these were more commonly used as the weapon's primary crystal. Using the crystal's natural properties, the lens was able to produce a more energized blade.
Beam Gem Lens- A Beam Gem lens was a type of lightsaber focusing lens that was manufactured primarily from beam gem crystals. These crystals commonly found use in optical computers, for example within navigation computers and, when used as a lightsaber lens, produced a highly focused blade.
Ossus Dueling Lens- An Ossus dueling lens was a type of lightsaber focusing lens that was widely used at the Ossus Jedi Enclave. It was intended to create a highly focused blade for providing fine-tuned control over one's lightsaber.
Pontite Lens- A Pontite lens was a lightsaber focusing lens created using a Pontite crystal. Although the rare crystal was typically used as a focusing crystal, as a lens it was capable of cooling both skin and tempers.
Crystal- For millennia, the Jedi Order lit lightsabers in every color and hue imaginable. Lightsaber color crystals could also be compressed, resulting in a pulsating blade, or they could be unstable, resulting in a core which swirled and sparkled. The following is a list of all known blade colors.
Colors:
Blue L
Black D
Bronze U
Cyan U
Gold L
Green L
Orange D
Pink U
Red D
Pearly-White U
Silver U
Violet U
Viridian L
Yellow L

D- Dark Side Associate

Below are the steps to take in order to begin the construction, or discovery of parts neccessary for its development, these steps will be different depending on your faction. All those who actually wield Lightsabers, even if they are currenrtly gray or dark jedi, the only way they'd discover such tools for its build would be through a reliable source, which is normally one of the Jedi factions. All these steps require you reach at least 10 posts.

Jedi Order
1. The player must receive approval from a Jedi Knight, or above in rank, in order to gain further access to the rest of the steps a jedi takes for receiving their Lightsaber. You also MUST be a Jedi Padawan, at least.
2. The person who had approved of your interest in constructing, or personalizing your own Lightsaber must agree upon being your teacher in its construction, or, you must find a teacher for yourself, someone who already has a Lightsaber and is above the Jedi Padawan rank.
3. After that member in-character gives you the introduction to its construction, and starts instructing you, he/she must take you to Ilum where the ceremony will begin.
4. At Ilum you yourself will actually begin constructing the Lightsaber, you will receive the neccessary parts, and choose which type of part you'd like, but, you must choose your own crystal within Ilum's Crystal Cave.
5. After choosing the Crystal which would reveal itself to being your Lightsaber's color, you will be given the order to begin construction.
6. After construction you will then be taught, by your instructor, the basic Lightsaber Form, Shii-Cho. This will only take a couple posts. After that, your construction proccess will be complete, and you may proceed through the RPG with your Lightsaber in hand(s).

Sith Empire
1. The player must seek out a Sith Warrior or above, and be given directions to a Crystal Cave, this Cave will not be the one in Ilum.
2. Once you've received the information of the Cave's location, you must go there alone, unless a superior desires to go with you, you may refuse their offer, but, only if you are victorious in a duel.
3. Once you reach the Crystal Cave, whether alone or not, you must then show your bravery, and travel into the Cave alone, searching for a Crystal which will end up being the color of your Lightsabers beam.
4. After you personally gathered your Crystal, you must then return back to a Sith territorry or resident you came from, show the Crystal to a Superior as a trophy, and the superior you direct yourself towards (which would be another player)giving you the neccessary parts for the construction of your Lightsaber. of course, you'd choose the details.
5. On your own, you must then place the parts in the right order. After your Lightsaber is completed you must seek self-teaching to learn the basic style Shii-Cho, or, you can ask a Superior to teach you the style, this would normally take around 2-3 posts.
6. With the style learned, you may now use the Lightsaber you had made in-character.

1B.Now, for the Sith there is also another way to receive a Lightsaber, but, teaching yourself the first basic style of Shii-Cho, or finding a way to be taught the style still remains. Simply kill a Jedi, or one of your own kin (Sith) in a duel, and take their Lightsaber. This is a more brutal solution, but, alot of Sith would admire such a deed.

NOTE: All players must follow these steps in the begginning, and must reach the explained requirements. For the Gray Jedi or Dark Jedi, you'd follow your own path, similar to the Sith Empire's steps in receiving a Lightsaber. You'd also have to find your own way to teach yourselves the basic form, Shii-Cho.
